The trip starts from Kigali and takes you to two of the most famous gorilla habitats in the world, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, located not far apart from each other, and the trip will bring you back to Kigali for a quick city excursion and your flight back.
The safari may seem to be short but the excitement of meeting with the mountain gorillas is immeasurable. Your heart will start beating faster as you trek across fields, hills and slushy narrow paths to reach the thick of the jungle. As you walk with bated breath, cutting a narrow path in the almost impenetrable and thick vegetation, the excitement comes to a climax. The climax is when you are face to face with the giant while watching them feeding, hunting, playing and many more activities.
Upon your arrival in Rwanda, you will meet our expert driver and start your luxury gorilla safari by touring the city of Kigali during which you will visit the Genocide memorial sites where more than one million people lost their lives during the genocide of the 1990s in Rwanda. You will later transfer to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda and check in at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for dinner and overnight stay as your preparing for the next day activity.
The next morning you will have an early breakfast and assemble at the Kinigi Park Headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers about the conduct of gorilla trekking activity. You will set off following the set trails to the lush volcanic forest full of birds, abundant flora, and fauna including golden monkeys, elusive elephants and buffaloes and scenic sights of the volcanic peaks seen through the forest gaps. The trek involves great hiking through the varying terrain which makes it an attraction in itself.
After coming up close to these giants, you will spend one hour with the them and then return to the lodge for lunch and checking out.
After your meals, you will proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park through the Virunga volcanoes. Upon arrival in Bwindi Impenetrable national park, you will check in Mahogany springs lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
You will have an early breakfast and be driven to the Park Headquarters for a briefing about what to do and not do while on a Gorilla trek. After the briefing, you will set for the trekking in very thick vegetation. Trekking gorillas in Bwindi- Uganda is quite challenging as it involves moving over the rugged terrain of steep slopes and valleys. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between 2 – 8 hours and you have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited. In the afternoon after having your lunch and checking out the lodge, you will drive to Kigali to catch your departure flight and that will be the end of your luxury Uganda-Rwanda gorilla safari.
