Gorilla permit is the number one must-have for any traveler visiting to trek gorillas in Uganda. A gorilla permit is a pass to see gorillas without which you cannot access the endangered gorillas.

In Uganda, the cost of gorilla permits varies depending on the travellers’ nationality. Uganda gorilla permits cost $700 for foreign non-residents, $600 for foreign residents. Uganda Wildlife Authority in Uganda issue gorilla permits.

You need to have a passport with you with every detail. It’s one of the requirements asked by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The passport also helps them to find out if you have the right age for gorilla trekking. They will look at the date of birth to check for the required minimum age as shown in the passport.

You need to have a yellow fever vaccine to be allowed into Uganda, Rwanda or Congo. Foreign visitors may also need a visa to enter the borders of the different gorilla tracking countries. The park authorities will ask for your passport after the briefing and before going into the forest to confirm your identity and ensure that you are illegible for gorilla trekking.

Visa is yet another must-have travel document by every traveler going to see mountain gorillas in Uganda. Travelers can apply for visas online with respective embassies before the traveling date. Here, a traveler visits the immigration page for a respective country, opens the application form, fill in the required information and submit. You can apply for a single Visa to Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

For travellers who are citizens in Uganda, endeavour to carry your citizenship Identity Card to prove that you are indeed a citizen.
